My name is Fred Richardson. My wife and I are spending a month in Kyoto. We will shortly be joined by our son in law, Bill and Eli, our 8 year old grandson for 10 exciting days in Japan. Bill and our daughter Reba have an organic farm in Warren, Maine with 200 CSA families and apprentices and woofers and have been doing it for some ten years. Their website is http://www.hatchetcovefarm.com. Anyhow, we thought of trying to visit your farm but have been discouraged by their limited time in Kyoto and all they want to see — This being their first time in Japan.
We are in ARASHIMAYA so getting to Kameoka is easy. After that I hear it is slow going even if we could rent a car in Kameoka. But I thought I would send a comment on this particularly since Ava and Reba have the same last name. (just kidding). Any thoughts you have time for?

Dear Zenryu Owatari and Ava Richardson
During planing our vacation ti March/April in Japan, I’ve just discovered you on the website and in the Internet.
We are couple , starting our 60′ in a vacation in Japan. This is my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meir.barak1
At home we eat organic vegetables and Edit (my wife) is studying macrobiotic food.
We are looking for healthy food and rae interested in it’s growing.
Edit asked my to find farmers on our way from Hiroshima to Kyoto, to see with our own eyes how the work is done.
We live near the north part of theIsraeli desert, and we visit weekly the nearest organic farm, not far from us https://www.facebook.com/havivianfarm/ .
My question to you if it is possible to visit your farm for few hours , during our vacation in Kyoto?
We really hope to get your positive answer
Best regards

Dear Meir. I am so sorry that this reply is sooooooo late! We have been on holidays out of country and away from technology for a while. Thank you for your interest in our farm but unfortunately, we are in a very isolated area, far from the city and public transportation. There is no bus to our area. So, i’m afraid short visits for only a few hours are not possible here. I hope you have better luck with another farm. Sincerely,
Ava

Hello Jacky. Thank you for your interest in our farm. I am not sure what kind of visit you are looking for, but we are in a very isolated part of the Kyoto mountains. There is no public transportation to our area. In fact, we tend to only take volunteers willing to stay longer than a week to make the effort of getting to our area, worth the effort. If you are looking for a short visit of only a few hours, I am sorry but that is not possible in our area. But if you wish to volunteer for a week or longer, please use http://www.wwoofjapan.com and sign up through this network. We are a registered farm host and this organization gives us some security in terms of inviting new people into our home. I hope you understand.
All the best.

Hello Jose. Thank you for your interest in our farm. We do accept volunteers but we prefer people to use http://www.wwoofjapan.com to sign up. This network of organic farm hosts gives us some security in vetting volunteers, connecting with like-minded people, and giving volunteers a secure network to choose from as well. We hope you understand. Sincerely,

Hello,
We are couple from Switzerland aged of 32 and 29. I’m a geographer and Marie-Elodie is a music teacher. Since the 18th of september we have been travelling through Asia. Japan will be our last destination and we would really enjoy sharing an experience working in your farm. Our project is to reach Japan by boat from Taiwan around the 10th of march. So would it be possible to help you 10 or 15 days around this date. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
